Pre-Doctoral Residency

CASA has partnered with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), which is a CPA Accredited Internship Program, to offer two rotations. For 2026/27, we will be offering two full-time (1-4 days a week), 12-month rotations as part of their Pre-Doctoral Residency in Clinical Psychology.

Training Experience:

We are offering two major rotations, each lasting 1-2 days per week for a duration of 12 months.

One rotation is tailored to adult-focused training, emphasizing the development of assessment and intervention skills in working with adults. This rotation allows residents to shape their training experiences based on their specific interests, encompassing psychological assessment (including neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and ASD, mental health, PTSD/trauma assessments, disability/physical injury/rehabilitation-oriented assessments, with the possibility of participating in multidisciplinary assessments of clients with injury/medical issues). Intervention opportunities include working with clients dealing with issues such as PTSD/trauma (including specialty groups—active CAF and RCMP members and Veterans, public safety personnel, developmental trauma), grief, mood and anxiety disorders, relationship challenges, stress, addictions, personality issues, and coping with chronic pain and disability. Additionally, there is the opportunity to receive training in providing couples therapy. For those interested in rehab/health psychology, there is also the possibility of providing assessment and treatment services as part of a multidisciplinary team at Venture Rehabilitation Sciences Group (VRSG), where we have two satellite offices. Training in the provision of supervision will likely be available as well.

We are also offering a lifespan rotation, which includes the same opportunities as outlined above, but with the added flexibility to engage in training across the lifespan. This includes conducting psychological assessments of children and adolescents (for various neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, ASD, intellectual disability, and specific learning disorders) and providing treatment to this age group, including parental consultations to address a variety of issues including behavioral concerns and mental health challenges such as mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, and trauma.

Training opportunities in each rotation will be individually tailored to the resident’s interests. Both residents will receive training in the practical aspects involved with running a private practice, drawing from our experience of operating a successful group private practice for over 35 years. Each resident will have two dedicated supervisors, with the option of consulting with additional team members as needed, affording exposure to various treatment models including CBT, ERP, ACT, DBT Skills Training, trauma-informed interventions such as PE and CPT, schema therapy, interpersonal process, mindfulness, and the Gottman method. To support ongoing professional development, we also provide each resident with a $500 allowance for workshops and conference training.
